What is Medical Hair Restoration?

Medical hair restoration refers to topical and oral hair loss therapies. To determine which therapies are ideal for your specific type of hair loss and personal goals, we welcome you to visit Dr. Greco for a consultation. After evaluating your scalp and carefully reviewing your hair loss history, he can recommend the best course of action for you.

Topical Therapies

Minoxidil

Minoxidil (brand name Rogaine®) was the first FDA-approved hair restoration treatment for both men and women. It’s applied directly to the scalp and works by stimulating hair follicle movement from the resting to hair growth phase; reversing the miniaturization of follicles, and dilating the scalp’s blood vessels to boost oxygen, nutrients, and growth factors in the hair follicles. The result is thicker, stronger, and fuller hair. Minoxidil is also available as an oral treatment.

Mereltä Root Renewal Serum

Mereltä Root Renewal serum is a plant-based anti-aging scalp treatment that restores and nourishes your scalp to give you vital and thicker hair. Discovered and formulated from special microalgae, this leave-in serum has a light and weightless feel as it nourishes your scalp and gives your hair more volume and better texture.

Hair and Scalp Formula

Our Hair and Scalp Formula contains Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF) to promote thicker, stronger, and longer hair.  KGF encourages the natural growth of new hair on the scalp, brows, lashes, and beard.  By supplementing naturally produced KFG, we can boost the production of new cells in aging or damaged areas.

Ketoconazole

Ketoconazole is an effective anti-fungal shampoo that may benefit hair growth through anti-inflammatory and potential anti-androgenic properties.

Oral Therapies

Low Dose Oral Minoxidil (LDOM)

Minoxidil is an effective option when used at low doses ranging from 1.25mg to 5mg orally. This is advantageous for those who find the topical too
cumbersome and inconvenient to apply or for those looking for an alternative to
the DHT blockers finasteride or dutasteride.

Finasteride

Finasteride (brand name Propecia®) treats pattern hair loss by preventing the
conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body, thereby blocking
the hormonal effects on hair.

Dutasteride

Dutasteride (brand name Avodart®) is frequently used off-label to treat male pattern baldness or hair loss. This treatment is very effective for slowing and reversing hair loss and has a mechanism of action similar to finasteride.
