What Is Microneedling & How Does It Work?
Microneedling, or collagen-induction therapy, uses sterile, ultra-fine needles that glide across the skin to create thousands of precise micro-channels. Depending on the target tissue, each micro-injury is superficial, typically ranging from less than 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm deep.
- This process immediately activates the body’s natural healing response, releasing growth factors that:
- Recruit fibroblasts to synthesize fresh collagen and elastin, resulting in firmer, more resilient skin
- Stimulate angiogenesis, which enhances microcirculation and overall skin nutrition
- Generate a temporary window of enhanced permeability—up to 80 minutes—allowing medical-grade serums or our proprietary cytokine-rich plasma (BioFacial) to penetrate more effectively
- Remodel scar tissue by breaking down abnormal collagen cross-links and replacing them with healthy fibers
Since no heat is applied during the process, the epidermis remains mostly intact, which lowers the risk of pigment alteration in darker skin tones.
