How CRP Boosts Collagen to Reduce the Appearance of Scars & Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are the evidence of growth spurts, pregnancy, sudden weight gain and loss, and rapid muscle growth. Superficial atrophic scars may result from acne, minor burns or surgery.  Our utilization of CRP/matrix releases growth factors into target tissue after focal injury with microneedling, resulting in new collagen and elastin growth. This causes the skin to look tighter and heal from within, building more tissue and lightening up the stretch marks, with a smoother texture.

The BioAesthetic Process: CRP for Scars and Stretch Marks

BioAesthetic treatment, like all of our bio-enhanced skin therapy procedures, utilizes the power of your body’s very own growth factors. This means that each treatment begins with a blood draw. Your blood sample will be placed into a centrifuge and spun so that the CRP can be easily extracted. Once it’s extracted, we can combine it with microneedling to create active micro-wounds to activate the growth factors. This enhances collagen production, which results in firmer, smoother skin over the scar or stretch mark.

CRP’s Three Main Components

CRP contains three main components, each of which is autologous and derived from your own blood:

Growth factors with anabolic properties

The growth factors that are derived from the body’s platelets exert an anabolic and regenerative effect on the skin by stimulating enhanced growth and function of stem cells, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells. This translates to new cellular growth in the skin, collagen and elastin formation, angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), enhanced wound healing, and repair of damaged tissue.

Anti-inflammatory cytokines

Through their effects on cellular signaling, the anti-inflammatory cytokines can block the harmful inflammatory molecules that are linked to premature aging and hair loss.

The inflammatory blockade restores a more balanced, natural environment, stimulates hair growth, and aids in wound healing.

Natural protein matrix

This is the key differentiating factor with the CRP/matrix. We use a proprietary technique to create a natural protein-rich matrix to serve as a biological scaffold to concentrate the growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the target tissue at far higher levels than can be achieved without it. It provides an optimal environment for tissue remodeling and regeneration. The concentrated protein-rich matrix resides in the target tissue for long periods of time, which yields longer-lasting effects.

Downtime and Results

Downtime and side effects are very minimal with BioAesthetic treatments, as the natural growth factors in CRP directly promote wound healing via cellular repair and decreased inflammation.

Complementary procedures

At Greco Dermatology, we offer additional scar and stretch mark procedures that may complement your BioAesthetic treatment. With the subtle art of scar and stretch mark camouflage, we take a comprehensive approach to hiding these unwanted marks for good.
